High-Level Job Description
The VP of Publicity oversees the entire Publicity Department, ensuring alignment with FlyteVu’s vision and mission. Under the supervision of the GM, the VP of Publicity will be responsible for leading and growing the Publicity team and for the performance and success of publicity activities for FlyteVu Agency and Client accounts and programs. The ideal candidate will be able to lead retainer accounts on an ongoing basis, conceptualize campaigns strategically, lead effectively, and strengthen client relationships by ensuring overall client and campaign success.
Detailed Job Description / Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Drive the vision and strategy for the Publicity Department, aligning with the broader goals of FlyteVu at the intersection of the current pop culture and media landscape.
- Bring relevant insights and industry trends to GM and FlyteVu leadership to ensure the company evolves at the pace of the industry
- Lead and grow the FlyteVu Publicity Team
Departmental Management & Oversight
- Manage PR team day to day: supervise, lead, train, and inspire the PR team with best practices and sound recommendations, prioritize projects and deadlines for completion
- Oversee resourcing, hiring, and overall management of the Publicity Department
- Provide mentorship to the publicity team, setting clear objectives and ensuring their professional growth
- Review and approve all contractor scopes of work and manage relationships with contractors to ensure alignment with FlyteVu standards and objectives.
- Create & adjust internal processes to ensure ongoing communication with other FlyteVu teams, including Accounts, Creative, and Production
Client strategy and management
- Responsible for building client PR Strategy for always-on retainer accounts and individual campaigns and programs
- Lead PR retainer account through kick-off, establishing client-facing routines and documents, and ongoing management and regular status check-ins to ensure delivery against KPIs
- Contribute to Phase 1 and always-on strategies with relevant insights and strategic ideas in the realm of publicity and media
- Define appropriate KPIs based on Client objectives and ensure delivery against them
- Communicate & present plans to Clients as needed
- Responsible for the success of Client programs, including strategy adjustments mid-campaign or Crisis Communication responses
- Manage media partnerships and budgets
- Advise on contractual PR deliverables and manage fulfillment of agreed-upon deliverables for Talent
- Successful ability to pitch local, regional, and national press
- Assist with on-site activation and fulfillment of client programs, which require that employees:
- Must be able to travel without restriction
- Must pass a background check
- Responsible for providing client solutions, recommendations, and updates to GM
Relationship Management
- Cultivate and maintain key relationships with publicists, managers, and agents within the entertainment industry
- Build, maintain, and nurture a solid database of high-level media contacts and continuously build new relationships on a local, regional, and national level

Required Competencies/Skills
- 10+ years of public relations, specializing in entertainment and brand publicity, with a minimum of 5 years on the brand or agency side
- Must have a problem-solving mentality
- Excellent command of the English language (grammar, punctuation); excellent writing and editing skills
- Ability to think ahead independently and challenge oneself to learn and grow
- Must lead by example and foster a supportive environment in line with Agency values
- Experience using Cision, Muck Rack, and similar platforms, and ability to learn new systems
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to raise questions and concerns internally
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and deadlines accordingly
- Creative thinking

Education Required
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field.
