OPPORTUNITY
The Covid-19 pandemic was extremely isolating, especially for frontline workers like the 28,000 doctors, nurses and hospital staff at Vanderbilt University Medical Centers.
IDEA
We brought celebrities and communities together to create “Gratitunes” and kicked it all off with a performance by Brad Paisley and an announcement on Billboard.com.
Every day for 30 days, starting on National Doctor’s Day, artists dedicated songs to say “thank you” to the frontline caregivers at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Over 80 artists posted a dedication including Brad Paisley, Lauren Daigle, Thomas Rhett, and Amy Grant.
We expanded Gratitunes nationally, partnering with Musicians on Call for an exclusive six-song concert for doctors, caregivers, first responders, and patients with 20 different pediatric hospitals across the country.

GRATITUDE TREE
We created a digital art installation inside the hospital and dedicated it to the staff at VUMC, while also celebrating the lives saved and honoring those lost in the ongoing fight against COVID-19.
Then we installed an LED screen in the Vanderbilt main campus lobby for staff and visitors to see. The screen displayed an interactive “Gratitude Tree.” People could submit notes of thanks to caregivers through the microsite that were transformed into leaves on the tree in real time. As notes were submitted, people could see the Gratitude Tree grow every day.
The art piece and its messages were used to create the ultimate “Gratitune,” a song born of gratitude by local Nashville musicians, Mat Kearney and Devon Gilfillian. The duo wrote and performed a song inspired by the notes of thanks submitted for our Gratitude Tree.
